A man facing 30 charges related to weapons and drugs will have to wait two more months for his trial, due to evidence delays.

Kevin George Ackegan, 40, was arrested and charged last February. A vehicle was initially stopped on suspicions a man may have been in possession of a firearm at the 1700 block of 13th St. W.

After an investigation, officers found two firearms, multiple drugs including methamphetamine, hydromorphone (opioid for pain) and Gabapentin (anticonvulsant medication) pills, cash, ammunition, bear spray, a machete and a knife. They also found Jamaican, American and Canadian currency.

At a hearing on July 27, not guilty pleas were entered to a number of charges including possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking. A trial was then scheduled to take place Sept. 2 at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
