The man responsible for Prince Albert’s SWAT team being called out to a home in the city’s west flat last February, has received a seven year prison sentence.

Sheldon Goodvoice, 23, was sentenced Wednesday at Prince Albert Provincial Court, after entering guilty pleas to a number of firearms related charges including possession of a prohibited/ restricted weapon obtained by crime, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

On the night of Feb.19, 2020, police searched a residence in the 800 Block of 13th St. W. and located a sawed-off shotgun, three shotgun shells, two machetes and zip ties. Two bandanas were also seized at the residence which implies a gang affiliation.

The sentence imposed on Goodvoice Wednesday actually reflects his involvement in three separate incidents.

In addition to the weapons seizure on Feb. 19, Goodvoice also entered guilty pleas with relation to a charge he recklessly discharged a firearm the night prior, as well as a break-and-enter that occurred in Nov. 2019.

Goodvoice was ordered by the judge to provide a DNA sample, and has a lifetime ban on owning or possessing a firearm. He was granted 273 days credit for time spent in remand custody.
