Sask. Rivers Public School Division releases revised version of return to school plan

Aug 17, 2020 | 8:51 PM

The Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division (SRPSD) has announced its revised version of the return to school plan.

According to a media release, remote learning support will be provided to students with specific medical needs and the accommodation process will need documentation from a family doctor and a plan by everyone involved including the parents. The principal of the school will answer questions on remote learning support.

Also, each school in the division will receive new procedures about teacher and class cohorts. They will focus on assigning teachers to a limited number of students and keeping students in one small group as much as possible.

To limit the spread of COVID-19, masks will be required of students and staff in Grades 4 to 12 on instructional days. Although, masks will not be required by staff on non-instructional days as long as physical distancing can be done. The students and staff can bring health approved masks to school for themselves, but the school division will supply them as needed.

Students will return to school on Sept. 8 and each class will be divided in half. Half the class will return on Sept. 8 and 10 and the other half on Sept. 9 and 11. Families with multiple children who attend the same school can plan to attend on the same day.

Staff are required to wear masks according to the SRPSD’s Return to School Plan. Face Shields can be used as an alternative for learning specific requirements or for medical reasons.

Whenever a student or teacher enter a classroom hand sanitizer is expected to be used. Students will be assigned a locker and are not permitted to share a locker. Students are required to wear masks while at their lockers and will need to use hand sanitizer before and after locker use.
