The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) provided an update on unrequested packages of seeds arriving in mailboxes.

CFIA received reports from more than 750 individuals who have received the unknown seeds.

CFIA said it is continuing to collect information on the unsolicited seed packages. The packages were postmarked from several different countries and many are declared as toys or jewelry which has made it difficult to identify the packages as containing seeds when they arrive in the country.

Based on visual inspections carried out to date, the seeds appear to be low risk, however Canadians are being cautioned to not plant the seeds.

The president of Maple Leaf Foods said he has confidence in safety precautions at a Manitoba pork-processing plant where six more workers have tested positive for COVID-19.

Michael McCain said employees at the Brandon plant undergo daily health and temperature screenings, wear personal protective equipment and practice social distancing.

A total of 10 employees have tested positive since last weekend.

Health officials said none of the cases are from COVID-19 spreading in the plant and are instead connected with a cluster in the city.
