Royals end 11-game losing streak, split double header against Regina Buffalos

The Prince Royals split a double header matchup with the Regina Buffalos Saturday afternoon at Andy Zwack Field.

In the first game the Buffalos got out to an early lead scoring eight runs in the first two innings. The lead seemed to be too big for the Royals to overcome losing 21 to 10.

The Royals didn’t go away without a fight, scoring three and four runs in the third and fourth innings. The fourth inning charge by the Royals was led by singles by Griffen Norton-Tibbs and Brady Robin and a fielder’s choice by Jack Mortimer.

Despite the push by the Royals, the Buffalos didn’t let up scoring seven and five runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

The Royals did collect six hits in the loss, but the Buffalos put on a clinic getting nearly 20 hits.

Ending the losing streak

The Royals quickly shook off the loss and ended an 11-game losing streak winning the second game of the double header 10 to nine.

This time around it was the Royals who jumped out to an early seven to one lead after the first three innings.

The Buffalos mounted a comeback starting in the fourth inning scoring three runs and four more in the fifth and sixth inning combined. Despite the push, the Royals held on to win a nail biter. The Royals had 15 hits in the game.

Ben Lefebvre, Jack Mortimer, Josh LaClaire, Nic Nye, and Dawson Paterson contributed with a series of hits.

Brady Robin led the Royals with two stolen bases as the Royals made it part of their game plan accumulating a total of nine stolen bases.

Up Next

Up next for the Royals is two away games. On Aug. 13 they head to Saskatoon to the play the Braves at 6:15 p.m.

After that they play Assiniboia at Leakos Field on Aug. 16 at 2 p.m.
