My Pharmacy: Personal, reliable care when you need it most

Jul 9, 2020 | 10:50 AM

Any pharmacy can fill a prescription, but the staff at My Pharmacy in Prince Albert takes the time to meet customers individually, learn about their personal health situations and make recommendations that best fit the client’s needs. They’ll even make medication from scratch if your prescription isn’t commercially available.

“We really like working here because we get to provide individualized personal care to all of our patients,” said My Pharmacy operator Catherine Liedtke. “People can walk in and chit chat for a few minutes or sit down if we need to go more in-depth about their medication.”

The pharmacy, located at 385 15th St. W, has been in operation for more than 30 years. Its owned by Rubicon Pharmacies – a company whose motto is ‘Care Before Commerce.’ Its goal is to keep independent pharmacies open in smaller communities across Western Canada.

“Because we are a smaller store, we have the time to do more either by phone or in person. I feel like people, especially in the midst of a pandemic, really want to be able to talk…whether its about their medication or just about their day. They’re looking for that connection and I feel like we have the time to be able to provide that to people,” said Liedtke.

Plexiglass barriers in place at the store make it easy to achieve those conversations safely while respecting social distancing protocols.

One of the biggest benefits of My Pharmacy lies in their ability to customize medication through compounding. If a certain prescription isn’t available, or is a specific formula isn’t working because of an allergy, they can often make a new version on the spot, including prescriptions for pets. Various types of pill packs My Pharmacy provides can also assist patients in remembering to take their medication and make it more convenient.

In addition to filling prescriptions, the pharmacists can also diagnose and treat minor ailments including skin and eye infections, insect bites, allergies, different types of fungal infections and sprains.

“We go through a questionnaire essentially to see if it’s something we can recommend or prescribe for you or if its more serious, we send you to the emergency department or a doctor.”

With free, contactless delivery, you can count on the team at My Pharmacy to provide help when its needed most.
