Province reports 13 new cases of COVID-19, 10 are connected to outbreak

There are 13 new cases of COVID-19 in the province, bringing the total to 772 cases.

Ten of the new cases are in the province’s South region and are connected to the outbreak in the Maple Creek area. Of the remaining cases, two are in the North and one is in the Far North.

Of the total reported cases, 105 are considered active. A total of 654 people have recovered.

Nine individuals are in hospital, with eight receiving inpatient care (four in the South, three in the North and one in Saskatoon). One person is in the intensive care unit in Saskatoon.

From the 772 cases, 163 are travellers, 465 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 103 have no known exposures and 41 are under investigation by local public health.

Across the province 55 cases are health care workers (although not all sourced their infections at work), 317 cases are from the Far North, 186 are from the Saskatoon area, 114 from the North, 80 from the Regina area, 63 from the South and 12 from the central region.

There are 110 cases involving people aged 19 years and under. The remainder of cases are adults.

There are 265 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 246 in the 40 to 59 age range, 130 in the 60 to 79 age range and 21 in the 80-plus age range.

Fifty-one per cent of cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

Thirteen deaths related to the virus have been reported to date.

There have been 63,116 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan to date.

Testing is now available to anyone working outside the home or returning to work as part of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.

Testing is also available to those admitted to acute care for more than 24 hours (including expectant mothers), immunocompromised individuals and their respective caregivers.
