Eleven new COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan

Jun 23, 2020 | 2:40 PM

There are 11 new cases of COVID-19 in the province, bringing the total to 753.

Ten of those cases are in the province’s Far North region and one is in the Saskatoon region.

Of the reported cases, 95 remain active. A total of 643 have recovered.

Nine cases originally attributed to Saskatchewan will no longer be included in the provincial total because their residence is outside the province. This is based on new criteria and surveillance guidance from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Three people are receiving inpatient care, with two in the South region and one in Saskatoon. One person is in intensive care in the South.

Of all 753 cases, 157 are travellers, 452 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 98 have no known exposures and 46 are under investigation by local public health.

In Saskatchewan 52 cases are health care workers (although not all may have sourced their infections at work), 312 are from the Far North, 185 are from the Saskatoon area, 111 are from the North, 80 are from the Regina area, 53 are from the South and 12 are from the central region.

There are 107 cases involving people aged 19 and younger. The remainder are adults.

There are 258 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 237 in the 40 to 59 age range, 130 in the 60 to 79 age range, and 21 in the 80-plus age range.

Fifty-one per cent of cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

Thirteen deaths related to the virus have been reported to date.

To date, 61,226 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. Testing is also available to those returning to work, those admitted to acute care (including expectant mothers), those who are immunocompromised and their caregivers.

Extended gathering amounts

As of yesterday, the province has increased indoor gathering sizes to 30 people, provided a two-metre distance can be maintained between individuals.

Extended household gathering sizes remain at 15. People in extended households do not need to maintain a two-metre separation and can be in closer contact.

Families and friends in extended household groups should remain consistent. It is important you do not visit different families or friends every day.
