Nolan Allan has been recognized among 46 players invited to attend Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team selection camp.

In a typical year, this group of players would be evaluated to choose Canada’s entry in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, which set to be held in early August in Edmonton and Red Deer, but that has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“It is important for Hockey Canada to recognize the work the players and coaching staff already put in to prepare for the summer and a chance to compete for gold on home ice,” Scott Salmond, senior vice-president of national teams for Hockey Canada, said in a statement. “It was a difficult decision to cancel the tournament, as it provides the opportunity to showcase the top under-18 players in a best-on-best international showcase. We want to recognize the 46 players and our three coaches for this tremendous accomplishment, and we look forward to watching all players continue to develop as they look ahead to next season and a chance to compete at the IIHF U18 World Championship.”

Drafted third overall in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft, Allan played in seven games with the eventual league champion Raiders in 2018-19 before making the full-time jump this past season at 16 years old.

The product of Davidson, SK played in 58 games with the Raiders this year, scoring two goals and adding six assists, while accumulating a plus-16 rating which was good for eighth on the team.

Allan also represented Canada Red at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in November.
