Twenty-one-year-old Fabian Morin has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the death of three-year-old Emily McCallum-Daniels in the city last month.

According to a media release from the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS), McCallum-Daniels was the victim of the homicide and died April 9.

Morin made his first court appearance by video on Wednesday morning. He has been placed in custody until the next court appearance on June 5 at 10 a.m.

Speaking to media PAPS Inspector Craig Mushka said the arrest of Morin Tuesday followed an extensive investigation.

“Investigators have worked diligently to collect and corroborate evidence; witness statements, forensic evidence and medical reports were all examined to establish a strong timeline in the events leading up to the death,” he explained.

He added Morin was “looked at” early on in their seven-week probe and others were in the residence at the time of the incident.

” In addition to Mr.Morin there were several people that needed to be spoken to. At this point no further charges are going to be filed.”

Police confirmed the accused is a half-brother to the victim. The Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate.
