P.A. firefighters get new contract
The city of Prince Albert and its firefighters have agreed on a new three year contact.
It will see a 6.81 per cent wage increase over three years, but no retro-pay for 2019 or the beginning of 2020.
The previous contract between the union representing firefighters and the City expired on Dec. 31, 2018. The two parties subsequently reached a tentative bargaining agreement and have been in negotiations on the present contract since September 2019.
“Negotiations seem, for some reason, to take longer and longer,” Mayor Greg Dionne told paNOW. “This one I thought was very fair, they got some concessions, we got some concessions and that’s what negotiations are about, so I’m very pleased with the contract.”
