Two more poultry processing plants in British Columbia said they have workers who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Sofina Foods in Port Coquitlam and Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry in Chilliwack said each of their facilities has one worker who has tested positive.

Sofina Foods said in a statement their employee lives with relatives who work at another plant that was recently closed after several workers tested positive for COVID-19.

The company, which employs over 400 workers, said the plant remains fully operational, and disinfection protocols and physical distancing measures are in place.

Fraser Valley Specialty said their employee had been off the job since Friday with mild flu symptoms and tested positive on Tuesday.

Two other poultry operations in Metro Vancouver were ordered closed by health officials this month when workers at the plants tested positive for coronavirus.

4-H Saskatchewan has made the decision to cancel meetings and events.

Executive Director Cera Youngson said while in-person programming is suspended until June 15, the group is offering a new program called 4-H at Home.

Youngson said it is running through a Facebook group, where ideas and activities are being posted.

She said it’s a way to keep members occupied at home and also to connect with some of the 50 projects that are available through 4-H.

Youngson said some 4-H beef club members have cancelled their steer sales but are exploring other options for selling their animals.

4-H members have been turning to social media to stay in touch and stay active.
