Raiders sign top prospect Goldsmith a week after the draft
It only took the Prince Albert Raiders exactly a week to sign their top prospect.
After drafting the puck smashing, 6’3, 200-pound defenceman Terrell Goldsmith in the first round of the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft last Wednesday, the Raiders announced they put pen to paper on a WHL Standard Player Agreement Wednesday morning.
“My parents and all of us are really excited. They jumped up and started hugging me. It was very exciting,” Goldsmith said on draft day. “I moved to Delta [B.C.] and wanted to get drafted here so I worked really hard to make this happen. It’s obviously a dream come true.”
Raiders director of player personnel Curt Brownlee said the Raiders were lucky to still see Goldsmith on the board 15th overall. Goldsmith missed some time during the season due to injury and suspensions, playing 23 of Delta Green’s 30 games. Brownlee thinks this could have had a little to do with him being available for the 15th pick, as teams didn’t get as many viewings.
