Raiders Replay; Dante peaks in overtime to lift Raiders to WHL championship
On CKBI, we finished up our look back to the Prince Albert Raiders’ journey to winning the 2019 WHL Ed Chynoweth Cup on Raider Replay, by rebroadcasting some of the best games throughout the playoffs. We concluded it with the only way we could, with Game 7 in the finals against the Vancouver Giants. Here’s how the game played itself out…
Dante Hannoun may be one of the smallest players in history to put on a Prince Albert Raiders jersey, listed at 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 pounds.
But on May 13, 2019, at the Art Hauser Centre, Hannoun scored the biggest Raiders goal in the last 34 years.
Hannoun netted the Game 7 overtime winner to grant the Raiders their first WHL title since the 1984-85 season. Hannoun’s goal came at the 18:25 mark of the extra frame, ending the game at 3-2 in overtime over the Vancouver Giants.
