City of Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne declared Tuesday as Green Shirt Day to honour Logan Boulet.

Before Boulet lost his life in the Humboldt Broncos bus accident on April 6, 2018, he told his family he wanted to donate his organs. His parents Toby and Bernadine honoured that wish on April 7, which ended up saving the lives of six Canadians. Over 100,000 more across Canada have registered to be organ donors since, creating the phenomenon now called the Logan Boulet Effect.

Even amid a global pandemic, the City of Prince Albert will still be participating. City staff are invited to wear green shirts to work, and city council is invited to wear green for Monday’s council meeting.

“We are in the midst of unprecedented challenges with COVID-19 but I wanted to take a moment to encourage everyone to consider signing up as an organ donor if they haven’t already,” Mayor Greg Dionne said in a statement. “The fact remains that people are still waiting for life-saving organ transplants.”
