Snowfall warning for Prince Albert and the north issued

Mar 31, 2020 | 12:39 PM

Prince Albert residents won’t be able to store the snow shovels just yet as a snowfall warning blankets the city and the north.

Snow shovelling is well underway in Prince Albert as the city contends with another blanket of snow.

Early morning estimations had P.A. to receive between 10-15 cm.

“It’s a pretty juicy system,” Meteorologist with Environment Canada, Terri Lang told paNOW. “There’s a lot of moisture in it and a lot of that moisture is being carried north. Most of that should (pass) through the region by the end of the day but we may see some snow sneaking back in by Thursday.”

Lang noted it’s not just the precipitation which makes it feel like winter.

“Temperatures are running well below normal, so I don’t think any of the snow is going to melt at least into the near future. Sadly, winter still has her grip on us,” Lang noted.

The cool temperatures persist into the next weekend and Lang said there’s no promise warmer weather will reveal itself.

“We know that we’re in for a cool spell and that’s certainly coming through,” she said.

Given the conditions, road travel could prove to be tricky. Lang asked motorists to check the highway hotline before heading out and beware of built up snow on roads and the potential for sudden reduced visibility.
