The man charged in connection to the death of a longtime Prince Albert bus driver is now facing a charge of second degree murder.

Kenny Donald Morin’s attendance was waived when the case was briefly discussed by lawyers Wednesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

In connection to the incident on March 15th in the city’s midtown neighbourhood, Morin was originally charged with aggravated assault but with the victim’s passing in hospital on March 20, the charge was amended.

Morin, 20, was also charged with stealing the victim’s wallet, and he faces other robbery and assault charges in connection to an unrelated incident.

David Maxemiuk, 61, drove the bus in the city for nearly 20 years. Family members have told paNOW he was attacked near his garage, shortly after returning from a trip to the grocery store. He leaves behind a wife and teenage son.

A gofundme page has been created to help the family with funeral expenses and legal costs. The court case has been adjourned to April 15.
