Speargun among weapons seized by police

The Prince Albert RCMP Crime Reduction Team has charged a man and two women from the Sturgeon Lake First Nation with weapons offences following a search warrant last week.

On Feb. 12, officers from the municipal and federal detachments searched a home located on Agency Road in Sturgeon Lake First Nation. They found and seized a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, a replica handgun, a spear-gun and a quantity of suspected hydromorphone.

Shania Yooya, 24, Brennan Sanderson, 27, and 29-year-old Shannon Sanderson are facing multiple charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a weapon obtained by crime.

Brennan Sanderson and Shannon Sanderson were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in provincial court in Prince Albert on March 18.
