Rebels run wild over Bears
The Prince Albert Northern Bears have been known throughout the years to keep the puck out of their own net. That was unfortunately not the case on Saturday afternoon as the Regina Rebels almost reached double digits as they handed the Bears a 9-1 defeat.
That’s the most goals the Bears have allowed in a single game since Feb. 3, 2011 when they lost 11-0 at the Art Hauser Centre to the Saskatoon Stars.
The Rebels led 3-0 after the first period. Kailee Peppler scored for the Bears on the power play for the Bears’ lone goal. Neena Brick made it 4-1 four minutes after that. The Rebels then ran away with the game as they scored three times in a 1:28 span to lead 7-1 after two periods before adding another two in the third.
In their last three games, the Bears have just scored twice. Peppler has both of those goals.
