The storm is expected to drop 10 cm of snow throughout the day and the wind will gust between 30 and 50 km/hr in the region.

Prince Albert’s Roadway’s Manager explained, as of Wednesday morning they had their full snow removal crew ready to go should the streets need to be cleared.

“All of our sanders are out, we do have the graders out on patrol cleaning some of the areas,” Brent Kennedy told paNOW. He explained crews will actively monitor situation throughout the day. “We’ll stay on top of them until we need go out with the graders and clean out some of the main areas.”

Wednesday’s daytime high will cap out at -16 C. In his experience Kennedy noted cooler weather is preferable to warmer weather that melts the snow and creates a mess.

Should they be needed, he added private contractors have been lined up and if the city needs extra help during snow cleanup they will be able to dip into that resource.

Kennedy finished by asking the public to give crews room they need to work.

“Watch for the snowplows and sanders who are out and about. Be courteous to them and slow down,” he said.

Environment Canada is warning people to travel safely as falling snow can reduce visibility.

As of 11 a.m. the Highway Hotline reported drifting and swirling snow is present on all roads surrounding Prince Albert.
