Wildcats stave off three-game sweep from the Bears with Sunday win

Jan 5, 2020 | 3:09 PM

The Prince Albert Northern Bears couldn’t complete the rare three-game sweep over the Swift Current Wildcats in three consecutive days, but they’ll exit the weekend with a pair of wins on the Wildcats who barely lose.

The Bears were shutout on Sunday 3-0, after a 3-2 victory on Saturday and a 5-4 goal festival on Friday.

Wildcats goaltender Amaya Giraudier made 34 saves to keep the Bears off the board, just the third time the Bears failed to score a goal in a game this year. Ashlee Wolfe had a pair of goals for the Wildcats, including the empty net goal. Madison Garrett also scored for the Swift Current.

The Wildcats will get back to second place with 35 points through 15 games, and the Bears will stay on 32 points in 20 games.
