Bears hand Wildcats another rare defeat in feisty affair, captain comes up clutch
The Swift Current Wildcats entered the weekend at the Art Hauser Centre with just one regulation loss on the season, but the Prince Albert Northern Bears have already tripled that tally.
They defeated the Wildcats 3-2 on Saturday, after a 5-4 victory on Friday to turn that one into a three in a hurry. The Bears themselves improve to 32 points, tying themselves with the Wildcats for second place in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League with 11 wins (nine in regulation), seven losses and one overtime loss. The Wildcats have 11 wins (10 in regulation) with three losses.
Bears captain Brooklyn Anderson scored the game-winner with 3:31 left in the contest. She was forced into the corner but powered her way to the front of the net and was able to find the far side of the net past Wildcats goaltender Cheyenne Jamieson.
That completed the comeback from the Bears, who were down 2-0, 2:58 into the second period after Baylee Kirwan and Gracie Georget scored for the Wildcats. Paris Oleksyn and Jasper Desmarais were able to tie it up for the Bears before the end of the second.
