PAPS welcomes new police dog

The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) took to Facebook on Tuesday to announce a new addition to their K-9 unit.

Kale, a three-year-old male German Shepherd, is the first of three new dogs expected to join the force over the next month.

Born in Slovakia but trained at a police K-9 academy in California, Kal comes to PAPS with some basic training in obedience, building searches, tracking and apprehension.

He joins veteran police service dog Febee as the second member of the newly expanded K-9 unit.

Growing the K-9 unit to four dogs is one of several recent changes Chief Jon Bergen spoke to paNOW about at the end of 2019.
