Police arrest man after Mountie dragged by vehicle during traffic stop
La Loche RCMP have one man in custody after an officer was dragged from a vehicle earlier this week during a traffic stop.
On Dec. 21, a constable from the detachment stopped a vehicle on Highway 155 south of La Loche. When the officer spoke to the driver and occupants of the vehicle, the driver sped off. The officer was dragged for 50 to 100 m before he broke free from the vehicle and fell on the road.
Yesterday morning officers arrested Colin Evan Lamaigre, 32, at a residence in La Loche. He was wanted on a warrant in relation to the incident and now faces several charges.
He is charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, failing to stop when pursued by police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and obstructing a peace officer.
