Bears players sign with B.C. University

Two members of the Prince Albert Northern Bears hockey team will be playing for a university hockey team in British Columbia next season.

Captain Brooklyn Anderson and defenceman McKenzie Mayo were given a tour of the Trinity Western University campus earlier this month, following the Mandy Schwartz Memorial Hockey Tournament.

“We weren’t there for very long but it seemed like the right fit,” Anderson told paNOW.

Anderson. who is in her fourth season with the Bears and recently competed with Team Saskatchewan at the National U18 tournament, plans to pursue pre-med in the fall. Mayo, who is in her second season with the Bears, said she liked the school’s small class sizes, as well as the hockey program.

“We got to spend lots of time with the coach and I found he was a really good coach and communicated with us really well,” she said.

Trinity Western University is a private Christian liberal arts university in Langley, British Columbia, and enrolls approximately 4,000 students. Before heading off to college this Fall, both Anderson and Mayo said they have their sights set on the upcoming Esso Cup in April.
