Freezing rain expected in central Saskatchewan

People planning a road trip to Regina for the CFL West final may want to wait, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Terri Lang.

Freezing rain, followed by snow, is forecast to hit central Saskatchewan.

“We’re going to be looking at some pretty tricky driving conditions until the temperature works its way above freezing probably later in the morning (Saturday),” Lang told 650 CKOM.

The system moving from east to west is expected to reach the Lloydminster area on Friday night.

“Lloydminister down through North Battleford through Saskatoon, probably clip places like Prince Albert, Melfort and Nipawin,” she said about the storm’s path.

With slightly warmer than normal temperatures expected in Saskatchewan over the weekend Lang believes road conditions will improve late Saturday morning.

Lang suggests drivers check conditions on Highway Hotline before leaving.
