Nov 16, 2019 | 1:01 PM

UPDATE: The GoodLife Fitness at South Hill Mall were at $1,415 before the event day and they raised $311.35 more on Saturday bringing them to a total of $1,726.25. They are still taking donations until the end of November.

The annual Spin4Kids fundraiser is happening in Prince Albert today.

The fundraiser is put on by the GoodLife Kids Foundation which hands out grants to charities in Canada. The focus is physical activity programs for children with autism and intellectual disabilities. All money raised will go to the GoodLife Kids Foundation Grant Program.

Until 3 p.m. today the GoodLife Fitness at South Hill Mall will be offering different fitness classes and are free to attend but donations are encouraged.

Manager of GoodLife Fitness Jessica Zurowski said the money raised at their location will stay in Prince Albert if any local charities apply for a grant. Their goal for today is to reach $2,500.

“Me personally, I have a friend who has kids with autism, and I think it’s important to do things in the community to keep them active or interested and entertained,” she said. “They’re very smart individuals and I think that stimulating them and stuff like that is a huge thing and I don’t think there’s enough of that in our community.”

She said she hopes the event will raise awareness for grant opportunities organizations might not know about that could be helpful.

They will have fitness classes running every hour with the last one starting at 2 p.m. Anyone who would like to donate can visit the location at South Hill Mall or on their website.
