Marauders boys 3-0, Crusader girls 1-2 at volleyball provincials
The St. Mary Marauders senior boys volleyball team is undefeated after the opening day of the 5A Boys Provincials in Regina. They won all three of their games in straight sets, beating Weyburn 25-16, 25-15 in the first match, defeating Saskatoon Centennial 25-9, 25-12 in the second and 25-21, 25-15 against Regina Campbell.
The Marauders will wrap up their group play with a 10 a.m. match up against Balgonie Greenall, who is also 3-0 so far in pool play.
On the 5A Girls side, the Carlton Crusaders are 1-2 after the opening day in Weyburn. The Crusaders fell to Saskatoon St. Joseph 25-15, 25-20 in their opening game, then evened their record with a three-set win over Weyburn, 21-25, 25-23, 15-9. The Crusaders had another three-setter, this time losing to Swift Current 25-14, 20-25, 15-10. The Crusaders will play 0-2 Regina Miller at 11:15 a.m. for their pool game.
