Prince Albert’s Ryan Bicknell and the rest of Team Canada’s Under-17 Junior Men’s National Team won gold at the Pan American Softball Championships in Guatemala Saturday.

Team Canada defeated Mexico 4-1 in the finals on Saturday afternoon to finish first. After losing their opening game 10-5 to the United States, Canada won their final six games of the tournament.

Bicknell was 1-3 from the plate with a single and a walk. He finished the tournament with a .250 average, two triples, a double, two runs batted in and four runs scored.

Prince Albert was also represented in the Canada’s coaching staff, with Kalen Kovitch serving as an assistant coach.

Delisle’s Max Major was the only other player on the team from Saskatchewan. He was 2-3 at the plate in the finals.

Argentina defeated Guatemala 4-0 in the bronze medal game. All four teams have qualified for the 2020 WBSC Under-18 Men’s World Cup in New Zealand from Feb. 22 to March 1.
