Canada with chance of gold at Pan Americans
The Canadian Under-17 Junior Men’s National Team are headed to the gold medal game of the Pan American Softball Championships on Saturday. They guaranteed that berth on Thursday, when they defeated Argentina 7-2. Canada added on another victory on Friday, an 8-1 victory over Belize to finish the group stages with a 5-1 record.
Canada features Prince Albert outfielder Ryan Bicknell, who hit a triple in each of the last two games. Bicknell has a .231 batting average, .474 on-base percentage and is slugging .615 at the plate. He also has four runs scored and two runs batted in.
The only other player on the team from Saskatchewan is Delisle’s Max Major, who is 1-14 from the pate with three runs scored and one run batted in. Prince Albert’s Kalen Kovitch is serving as one of the team’s assistant coaches.
