Snowy weather arrives across the province

It was a snowy weekend for much of Saskatchewan, and we may be in store for some more.

Environment Canada said the overnight snowfall peaked at around two to three centimeters in many areas of the province.

Meteorologist Mark Melsness said the snow is widespread.

“The ground is pretty much white through Yorkton, Humboldt, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Nipawin (areas) … kind of the eastern two thirds of the province.”

Moving into Sunday night, a system out of northern Alberta will be entering the province. It is expected to bring more snow to the province, Melsness said.

“(The system will) be spreading some snow through southern parts of Saskatchewan beginning tonight, and continuing through the day tomorrow.”

Melsness predicted around two to four more centimeters could fall in many areas of the province Sunday.

Looking forward to Halloween on Thursday, Melsness said there would most likely be snow. However, he did say Thursday may be a bit more mild.

“Considering what’s there now, and what’s coming, probably most areas will have snow on the ground,” he said. “Halloween itself doesn’t look like too bad of a day. Kinda breezy, high temperatures around plus two plus three.”
