Local law firm donates to hospice

The Rose Garden Hospice is getting some more support from the community.

Wednesday afternoon the law firm of Parchomchuk, Sherdahl, Hunter donated $15,000 to support the building of the facility.

Ron Parchomchuk, one of the partners with the firm said the services the hospice is looking to provide are important and much needed.

“The ability to be in a facility where one’s last days will be looked after with dignity and with respect and with care for both the patient and their family is really something that is lacking in the province,” he said.

Parchomchuk said he and his partners were also encouraged to donate in part because Marina Mitchell, who is helping to spearhead the fundraising efforts is a friend of Allicia Hunter. After being made aware of the project, Parchomchuk said it was one all three partners wanted to get behind.

“She [Mitchell] approached us this year and we were really glad to help,” he said.

In the past the firm has supported other projects in the community. They have included the Art Hauser renovations and the soccer centre at the Alfred Jenkins Field House.

Parchomchuk said he hopes the donation from his group will encourage others in the city thinking about making a contribution. He said he has noticed a lot of support for the project in the community.

“We’re hoping that other organizations and businesses will contribute to this worth while cause,” he said.
