Flu shot shipments to be on time in Sask. despite supply shortage

After some uncertainty, Saskatchewan will not have delays or shortages in the delivery of influenza vaccines to the province.

It was reported on Wednesday by the Public Health Agency of Canada that only 55 per cent of the total flu vaccine order is currently available to distribute to the country.

In Manitoba, health-care providers were notified about potential delays in the shipments of the vaccines due to manufacturer shortages. Other provinces are expected to see delays.

However, Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Health released a statement Thursday that said they receive regular updates regarding flu vaccine supply from Health Canada and “have confirmed that we will receive vaccine to support our program start date of Oct. 21.”
