Smash and grab at P.A. jewelry store

Sep 11, 2019 | 4:42 PM

The Prince Albert Police believe as many three people may have been involved in an early morning break at Bocian Jewellers on Wednesday.

Around 4:30 a.m. one of the large windows at the store was smashed, and the suspects made off with several items of jewelry from one of the display cases. While he is still assessing the value of the stolen items, so far store owner Alex Bocian estimates at least $10,000 worth of watches was stolen.

“According to the cameras we saw two guys inside and one guy outside. [They were] grabbing watches and throwing them through the window, and it looks like someone else was picking them up on the other side,” he said.

Bocian showed paNOW a picture of the smashed display case, and the trail of glass that was left on the floor when he arrived at the store in the morning. The thieves left a hammer behind. Bocian said he would like to see more police patrols in the area.

“I know at night, at four in the morning, they can’t do much but if at least during the day they could do more here because we can see people in the back alley fixing drugs,” he said.

Bocian said he does have insurance but explained the deductible for the watches alone is $5,000 and he must also replace the window. Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to call police or Crime Stoppers.

Police are looking for any information on the suspects seen in this surveillance photo from the jewelry store. (submitted photo/PAPS)
