Update: Missing 13-year-old found

Update: Smeaton RCMP have confirmed as of Tuesday, August 5 Marcus Lafond has been found safe.

Smeaton RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 13-year-old Marcus Lafond. On August 4, Lafond was at Heritage Lake, Sask., with a group of other youths and was last seen walking away from them around 4:30 p.m.

It is believed that Lafond may have been hitch-hiking near the junction of Highway 120 and 913 around 6:00 p.m. He has ties to the Prince Albert, Shellbrook and Big River areas, but it’s unclear where he may be going.

Lafond is described as 5 foot 3 inches tall, slight build, brown eyes, brown hair that is longer on top and short around the sides and wears thick, black rimmed glasses. He was last seen wearing light grey sweat pants, a white “Crooks and Castles” hoodie, a black baseball hat, black Adidas running shoes with three stripes and carrying a black and brown camouflage print backpack. It is believed that his backpack contains other clothing.
