Families came out to enjoy the summer weather and participate in a variety of activities, as the Waskesiu Children’s Festival took place on Saturday.

The event featured a variety of family themed activities, all at no cost, as well as a Barbeque held by the Waskesiu Fire Department with all proceeds going back to the department.

“There was a bunch of different booths with fun games for the kids to play. It’s just a really fun day for the kids to enjoy some free stuff and have fun with the family,” Tyrelle Audette, recreation coordinator for the Waskesiu Recreation Association said.

“The SPCA also brought out some puppies and kittens for the kids to play with, that is always a great time.”

This was the 27th annual Waskesiu Children’s Festival, according to Audette, who noted that the day has always existed as a way to provide free entertainment to the whole family.

“It’s really just for everyone to enjoy the community of Waskesiu and to kind of give people something other than the usual routine to do,” Audette said.
