Provincial ball back in P.A. this weekend
The Prince Albert Aces are hosting the Under-16 A Girls Softball Provincials this weekend at Max Power Ball Parks, with a gold medal already in their back pockets.
The Aces are entering the provincials after winning their second straight Maclean-Ross Championship in the Girls Prairie Softball League—competing against clubs from big Alberta centres like Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer.
“We use that league to get us ready for these provincials, we get a lot games out of it,” said Aces coach Devon Kolosa. “We missed one tournament but we still ended up with a 9-4 record and ended up winning it again this year. I think that really benefits our players, giving them playing time and learning situational play and getting better overall, each week.”
The backbone of the team can be found on the mound, but Kolosa said each aspect of the Aces’ game is solid.
