P.A. judge expresses concern as toddler death case adjourned again
The judge presiding over the case of a Prince Albert man accused of killing his infant son, said it is in the public’s interest that the case move forward.
Judge Hugh Harradence made the remark as Kelvin McCallum Jr.’s case was adjourned yet again. A short hearing was held Wednesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court, and McCallum appeared via video from the Prince Albert Correctional Centre.
Defence lawyer Gordon Kirkby explained he needed more time to transfer disclosure to the Crown. Harradence said he hoped the Aug. 1 adjournment date would give lawyers enough time, and expressed his preference to set a preliminary hearing date at the next hearing date.
McCallum faces a charge of second degree murder in the death of his 21-month-old son last March. There has been no plea entered.
