Province to stop maintaining roadside rest stops
Roadside rest stops may soon disappear across the province.
In a media release sent to 650 CKOM, Matthew Glover, a media relations officer on the province’s executive council, said operations to maintain and monitor roadside stops are being suspended.
“The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure is unable to provide constant monitoring of the rest area/roadside stops and these area are often subject to frequent vandalism and used as dumps,” the email statement said.
“The service provided by these rest stops has been increasingly filled by the private sector through things like roadside gas stations and restaurants.”
