Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-sign Canadian-born safety Mike Daly to deal

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed Canadian safety Mike Daly on Wednesday.

The native of Kitchener, Ont., was scheduled to become a free agent next month.

Daly, 28, appeared in all of Hamilton’s 18 regular-season games last year, starting 17. He registered a career-high 53 tackles with three interceptions in 2018, returning a pick 58 yards for his first-ever touchdown.

Daly also started both of Hamilton’s playoff games and was the team’s nominee for the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award which recognizes players’ strength, perseverance, courage, comradeship and contribution to Canadian communities.

Daly has appeared in 69 career games over five seasons with Hamilton. The six-foot-one, 189-pound defensive back has 77 tackles, 31 special-teams tackles, seven interceptions, one sack and a forced fumble.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers also re-signed Canadian linebacker Thomas Miles to a one-year extension. He was also scheduled to become a free agent next month.

Miles, a Winnipeg native, enters his third season with the Bombers. He joined his hometown team as a free agent in 2017 and since then has recorded 26 special-teams tackle and nine tackles in 36 games.

Miles began his CFL career with the Toronto Argonauts in 2014. Overall, he has recorded 67 tackles, 42 special-teams tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in 76 career games.
