Grass fires and crashes keep local fire depts. busy on Sunday

A pair of crashes north of Prince Albert Sunday afternoon, resulted in no injuries according to Parkland Ambulance.

Around 1:30p.m., the Lakeland Fire Department responded to a two vehicle crash in the Village of Paddockwood. Crews arrived, secured the scene, and set up traffic control.  

The second crash happened at 4:30 pm, on Highway 2 at the Spruce Home turnoff. Buckland Fire and Rescue responded to the three vehicle crash. Crews were on scene for about two hours. 

The Prince Albert Fire Department spend a part of their afternoon Sunday, tending to a pair of fires at Little Red River Park, on the south side of Christy Slough.

The fire department received the call around 3p.m. and firefighters gained access to the fires using a Wildland Unit. They manage to put out both fires without any property damages or injuries. The Buckland Fire Department was also requested to attend to determine if there were any fires to the north that would threaten the Rural Municipality of Buckland area.

Around 8:30p.m. Sunday night, the Melfort Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus deer incident, five miles north of Melfort on highway 6.

Upon arrival and investigation it was determined that the lone occupant of the vehicle was not hurt. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene.
