Whitecap players hope to impact Indigenous youth with Hope and Health event
VANCOUVER — Each week Vancouver Whitecaps winger Alphonso Davies pits himself against some of the best players in Major League Soccer.
On Monday the speedy teenager found himself playing against some opponents who made up in enthusiasm what they lacked in skill. Many barely reached Davies’ waist. Others wore jerseys that hung to their knees.
In the end there were high fives and big smiles.
“These guys are difficult opponents,” Davies said with a laugh. “Our goalkeeper was outstanding, made some brilliant saves.”
