Predators advance to PGLL final after Moose Jaw Mustangs forfeit semifinal
The Prince Albert Predators are headed back to the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League (PGLL) finals after the Moose Jaw Mustangs forfeited their semifinal matchup that was supposed to take place tonight, Thursday, in PA.
The semifinal had been rescheduled from Friday, a move that was agreed upon by both teams, according to Predators head coach Lucas Wells. As a result, he said some criticism has been directed toward his club over the schedule change.
“Everyone seems to think that we had moved the game to Thursday out of convenience for us, which was not the case.”
About a month ago, PGLL teams voted to expand the playoff format from three teams to four, with opening-round games initially scheduled for Friday, July 3. Wells said league officials later informed him, on June 22, that the semifinal would have to be moved to Thursday because of a referee shortage, however, they were still willing to make Friday work with the officials that were still available.
