New lagoon proposed for North Bay Trailer Park
A public meeting is planned Monday to discuss a proposed sewage lagoon north of Prince Albert to replace the failing one in the North Bay Trailer Park.
The Rural Municipality of Buckland scheduled a public meeting for Monday afternoon to provide information to local residents. The R.M. received an application to construct a new sewage lagoon approximately two miles west of Highway 2, along Red Wing Road, to replace the North Bay Trailer Park lagoon. The roughly 200 residents of the trailer park are facing eviction due to the failing lagoon structure. If a plan for a new lagoon cannot be decided before September 1, the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency said work will begin to decommission the old structure, meaning all residents of the park will be forced to move.
The WSA’s Patrick Boyle said the aging lagoon, which was built in 1969, is not functioning adequately and something must be done soon.
“The current one right now is not to our standard, to our guidelines, and hasn’t been for some time and it is in need of a different solution,” Boyle told paNOW. “Something has to be done with that..”
