Neighbours want answers in woman’s disappearance

Feb 28, 2018 | 4:00 PM

More than a week and a half after a Prince Albert woman was reported missing, few details have been released by police and neighbours are growing concerned.

Brandy Busch, 39, was reported missing Feb. 18. According to police, she was last seen Feb. 13 in the 700-Block of 10th St. N.W. in Nordale. Neighbours have told paNOW Busch had lived there in the house with her mother and her dogs and the mother had been away for weeks. paNOW spotted several old newspapers, still wrapped in their blue bags, lying in the driveway.

Frank Harris lives down the street and said prior to her disappearance he would frequently see Busch walking down the street to the nearby store. He said he found it strange when one day he heard there was a complaint made about her dogs being outside.

“Because she never usually leaves her dogs out overnight and they were barking there,” he said.

Harris said the next day police came and asked him when last he had seen Busch, and two days after that the missing person’s report was issued.

“We’ve never seen no vehicles or anything because this isn’t really a high traffic area and we know everybody that drives by so it seems strange,” he said.

Arnold and Merle Chester live on the other side of Busch’s house and they too want to know what happened.

“The last time we had seen her was that Friday [the 16th] because [Arnold] had taken her to town to get her medicine and brought her back, dropped her off at the gate, and that’s the last we seen her,” Merle said.

She said she and her husband had no suspicions anything was out of the ordinary, but two days later police officers showed up at the house and took the dogs.

“That’s when everything kinda broke and there was a whole bunch of cops there, and they stayed Sunday, Sunday night and Monday night then yesterday there were four guys there in white suits, most of the day,” Merle said.

When paNOW reached out to the Prince Albert Police Service for comment, Communications Strategist Alanna Adamko said investigators processed the residence for evidence and for occupational health and safety reasons, due to the house conditions. The white suits were part of the team’s hazmat equipment.

Arnold Chester said the missing woman’s mother was away and so Busch had come to his house each week, for the past three weeks, asking for a ride into town. Arnold added Busch’s father, who passed away years ago, was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He said both Busch and her mom were nice people, too.

“They’ve been neighbours here for years, real good neighbours, as far as I’m concerned,” he said.

As of Wednesday, the police investigation was still underway. They have asked anyone who lives in the area where Busch was last seen to check their property for “anything that might be relevant to the case or the whereabouts of Brandy Busch.”
