Mintos fall to the Hounds; but Bears beat them in ND
In the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League, the Notre Dame Hounds have only lost three games all season in 40 games played—just one in regulation.
The Hounds proved their mettle on Saturday as they beat the Prince Albert Mintos 1-0 in a defensive slugfest at the Art Hauser Centre.
For the first 52:33, the game was a scoreless tie. But on the Hounds’ 34th shot, Notre Dame defenceman Avery Winslow broke the deadlock and gave the Hounds the all-important first goal.
The Mintos were missing a lot of firepower from their lineup. Kyrell Sopotyk, who scored 42 goals last season, missed Saturday’s action with a shoulder injury. Austin Lamotte served his second of a three-game suspension for an interference major from Sunday’s game against the Saskatoon Blazers. Luke Nkwama served his one-game suspension for a check from behind against the Saskatoon Contacts on Thursday.
