Resolution in sight for Melfort murder case
Nearly six years after the disappearance of Roger Byer, trial dates are still being finalized for the two men accused of being involved.
Daniel Smith, who faces a charge of second-degree murder, is scheduled to appear for trial in late January 2016.
Dwight Windrum, who was charged with weapons trafficking and being an accessory after the fact, will have a preliminary hearing in May.
Windrum’s matter was dealt with on Tuesday at Melfort Provincial Court, where the preliminary hearing was set. It will determine if there is enough evidence to go to trial.
