Big River hopes to attract health care workers with amateur video contest
The town of Big River is taking a unique approach to attracting health care practitioners to the area.
Big River residents are invited to submit videos or slideshows showcasing what makes the town a great place to live and work. The submissions are then entered for a chance to win some prizes.
Big River’s Mayor Rob Buckingham said Saskatchewan has always had an issue with attracting health care workers.
“There’s always a shortage of health care workers,” said Buckingham, “so on an ongoing basis we just wanted to produce some sort of local video that showcases our area and all the attractive features of the area and reasons why they’d want to set roots in our community.”
