Prince Albert woman chasing her dream and helping kids Make-A-Wish

A woman who has helped spearhead many fundraising events in Prince Albert, is leaving the city to follow her dreams.

Allyson Wall, who has been with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada for six years as the marketing and special events coordinator in Prince Albert, has taken a new job as regional manager for Saskatchewan with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“Since I became an event coordinator, that was my dream job to work for either Children’s Wish or the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” she said.

Wall is recently engaged, which is part of the reason she wants to move to Warman.

“My fiancée is a school teacher in Saskatoon and I was driving over 45 minutes every day.  It’s a stepping stone in my career,” she said.

The move will not be an easy one for Wall, who has made many friends and contacts during her time in Prince Albert.

“This week I have to say goodbye to all the corporate sponsors and the major media sponsors as well,” said Wall. “I made some friends out of this process and I’m very sad to leave Prince Albert.”

When asked what she will most about her old job, Wall said, without hesitation, the Diva for a Day Golf Tournament, as well as connecting the ‘littles’ with a big brother or big sister.

On Wednesday, Wall was presented with a star blanket at the Northern Lights Casino, a symbol of deep respect within the First Nations community.

Wall’s last day working for Big Brothers Big Sisters Prince Albert is Friday, August 28. A spokesperson for Big Brothers Big Sisters Saskatchewan said they have not yet found Wall’s replacement.

Wall will start her new job August 31.

“I’d like to thank everyone in Prince Albert who has supported me the last six years, from the ‘bigs’, to the corporate world,” she said.

Wall, who is also a member of the Optimist Club, has promised to visit Prince Albert from time to time and said she will continue helping with the weekly Radio Bingo program Thursday nights on 900 CKBI.
