PAEX Association welcomes new GM in time for summer fair

As the Prince Albert Exhibition Association gets ready for the upcoming summer fair, changes are underway.

Chris West is just settling in as the general manager for the Exhibition Association.

“It’s exciting. It’s the time of year that it’s the craziest because the fair is on Tuesday,” said West. “It’s a good learning experience.”

West worked at P.A. Soundworks for 15 years. He said he was looking for a change of pace and the position at the Exhibition seemed like a good fit.

According to West, he’s looking forward to many new possibilities.

“Just learning all about what the Exhibition does,” said West.

Before implementing any changes, he said he wants to learn as much as he can about the organization.

Because the Exhibition is a long standing organization with deeply rooted community ties for decades, one may be overwhelmed, but West said he sees it as only positive.

“I think it’s more of an asset to have that knowledge behind so you have that support,” West explained.

Amidst PAEX preparation, he said things are going “great”.

“Everyone’s working today and tomorrow, and Monday of course to get this all sorted out,” said West. “That’s kind of what they’re doing right now, getting the grounds ready.”

“Everything is a go. Now they’re just waiting for people to arrive with different booths, and of course then all the horses and the cattle.”

As we creep closer to the PAEX kick off day, West gets closer to having the ins and outs of the event down pat.

“I’m learning all of that,” said West. “It’s going to be exciting to see how everything operates.”
